This week has been one of firsts. The first Power Walk where it rained, first Return to Exercise Walking Group, first Power Walk around Horseshoe lake. The list goes on!
The Saturday walk around Fleet Pond was earlier than normal starting at 8:30am but still had 22 members, all keeping a fantastic pace and completing the 3.9k walk in about 50 minutes.
Wednesdays first Return to exercise group at 13:45 from the Scout Hut on Monteagle Lane had 4 walkers, not bad considering the weather! Hale stones 10 minutes before the start but the walkers did a fantastic job keeping a great pace throughout and enjoying the views of Castle Bottom and the Airfield. Its £6 per session and half the proceeds will be going to the Our Harrys Smile Fund for a lovely local family who are raising money for the much needed alterations to there home to accommodate the gorgeous 4 year old Harry. Due to a chromosomal deletion he is profoundly deaf and confined to wheel chair. This amazing family really need our help to make there home a place for Harry to thrive whilst also easing the strain of his day to day care on his family. I am also planning a collection for this very worthy cause at the beginning of the Saturday 20th May walk from Horseshoe lake so don't forget your change!!

This week sees the Power Walk from the Scout Hut on Monteagle Lane GU46 6LS at 6pm followed by the first Couch to 5k session at the same place at 7pm. Then of course its the Wednesday Return to Exercise Group and then Fridays 10am Power Walk from Horse Shoe lake this time starting at the Horseshoe Activity Centre carpark. Those who fancy a drink after can head up the road to Blackwater Golf Centre Café. I'm super excited about the week ahead. I hope everyone enjoys there bank holiday and I will see the Walkers and soon to be runners very soon indeed!
Saturday 22nd April 2017 was our most successful meeting yet! We had 27 members at the walk around the beautiful Horseshoe Lake and surrounding area and walked the 6.2k route in 90 minutes. With the bluebell fields, enlightening countryside views plus the amazing lakes themselves this is a new favourite route of mine. Breath taking! The company was the perfect extension of this with a great variety of ages and abilities, all friendly and welcoming to each other as always. The buzz of chatter between friends old and new always makes me proud to be part of this group. Thanks to all the new people who joined us and to the regulars who continue to support The Walking Group Yateley.
